Exhibtion News. Savoy – The Restoration by Siobhan Doran

The exhibition which was on display at 81 Leonard Street gallery is a collection of stunning photographs of the legendary London hotel, The Savoy during its 3 year restoration. 

Complete Ltd‘s very own marketing web developer, Bryony Fraser, curated the exhibition and event held in London last week. Photographer, Siobhan Doran was granted exclusive access to the property after it’s close in December 2007. The photographs provide a record of the building being stripped of it’s former glory which dates back to 1889. Doran, the captured images during it’s transformation and produced a series of photographs that show beauty of The Savoy even without its glamourous fixtures and fittings.

The series of photographs that show the ‘before and after’ of the fifth floor Riverview Suites, pay tribute to the 1000 craftsmen and artisans who worked on the multi-million pound project. The images depict how the restoration was executed with complete sympathy to the original interior of the property.

One of the photographs, Savoy External Lettering in Savoy Grill, The Savoy, June 2009, is hanging in the Harry & Carol Djanogly Gallery as part of The Royal Academy’s  Summer Show 2012.
