Complete Ltd is Proud to Sponsor Pure Evil Gallery Exhibition
Open to the public from Thursday 11th June 2015, a solo exhibition by Charley Uzzell-Edwards or Pure Evil as he is professionally recognised, will be held at the Londonewcastle Project Space in East London until 21st June.
Pure Evil: “The Temple of Broken Hearts” is a shift from the crying Marilyn Monroes and Jackie Os he is best known for. Instead his distinctive spray paint and graffiti-meets-pop art style takes a spiritual path depicting Buddhist Temples and Chinese Dragons. Following a trip to Sydney, Australia, Charley ended his tour with a stop-off in Asia to visit ancient temples. It is here where the artist explored past life regression, reincarnation and meditation following a personal tragedy.
Charley draws on his roots in graffiti and street art to create his classic and iconic works of art. Stencils are sketched out, cut and sprayed onto canvas, paper or acetate. By contrast to the clean lines of a stencil outline, there are always elements of raw spontaneity in his work. Canvases and screen prints are often finished freehand with spray paints that leave cloudy residues or a blobby pen that emits a vertical line of dripping ink. The eight large scale diptych and triptych canvasses that make up “The Temple of Broken Hearts” are also created by using these same techniques. Lotus is hand finished with a spritzing from a can of red paint in the flower centre and the leaf outlines enhanced with intentional drips and streaks from a black chubby marker pen.
Complete Ltd is a keen supporter of London’s creative talent and is a proud sponsor of Pure Evil: The Temple of Broken Hearts. The team at Complete Ltd created and produced the catalogue of all 8 works on show at the London Newcastle Project Space including a stunning four page roll-fold of the Dragon Snake triptych.
The solo exhibition is on from Thursday 11th June 2015 5-8pm, Friday 12th June – 21st June 2015 12-8pm at the Londonewcastle Project Space, 28 Redchurch Street, Shoreditch, London E2 7DP.
