Disegno Launch Issue No.5 & Celebrate the Opening of Camper’s New London Store
Disegno magazine shared their AW13/14 issue launch with Spanish footwear brand, Camper, hosted at their latest boutique opening in Spitalfields, London.
Complete Ltd, who provided all of the Colour Management for every page of this edition, called in at the launch to view the latest issue at the new store designed by Doshi Levien. To mark the opening during London Design Festival 2013 and prior to the evening’s events at the launch, Camper and Disegno organised a walk from Disegno’s new offices which have been designed by Felix de Pass. The walk which took in creative studios from Haggerston to Shoreditch, concluded at the Old Spitalfields Market boutique in time for the start of the event.
The latest edition of Disegno is entitled The Culture Of Design. The front cover features striking imagery by British photographer Giles Price, who along with the architect Rahul Mehrotra, visited the Kumbh Mela 2013 to document the spectacular events at the world’s largest gathering of people in a temporary city. Giles Price, who has worked with Complete Ltd on previous projects, such as E20 12: Under Construction and on his images of the London G20 protests in 2009, provides a fabulous set of images for issue No.5, as well as informative text and insights taken from his visit to the temporary site in February 2013.
Interspersed throughout the issue are fashion designer Sir Paul Smith’s Nine Mundane But Amazing Items Of Design. Included in his selection is the Bialetti Moka, paperclips, Sellotape, Caran D’Ache pens and post-it notes. Everyday objects which “you would not think of them a pieces of design, but they are examples of some of the best” says Sir Paul in the magazine. Also in this issue, the work of fashion designer Mary Katrantzou photographed by Erik Madigan Heck features Katrantzou’s digitally printed fabrics on hand-built and painted surrealist backgrounds.
