Disegno Magazine Introduce New Paper Stock for Issue No.4

Complete Ltd highlight selected pages and images from Disegno‘s fourth issue for spring/summer 2013, which is now presented in a gloss finish paper.

The design magazine is best known for its take on a range of creative topics relating to architecture, design and fashion. The front cover was photographed by Ola Bergengren, and features a juxtaposition of the Campana brothers ‘La Cord au Cou’ necklace wrapped noose-like around a bunch of bananas. The essay that relates to the current issue’s cover story explores the intersection of design and jewellery.  A brooch by Gijs Bakker was also featured in the design meets jewellery hybrid layout along with pieces by Studio Swine and Simone Brewster.

Dispersed throughout the issue are close-up images of couture technique samples created by the House of Valentino. The photographs were taken from the Winter 2012 exhibition, Valentino: Master of Couture, held at Somerset House in London.  Innovative Dutch fashion and textile designer Iris Van Herpen is profiled for this issue, along with a contribution by Hedi Slimane, the current creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, who shares photographs and objects collected by it’s eponymous fashion founder.

The tangible version of Disegno is now in it’s second year, and to mark this edition, the magazine was printed on a coated paper with a glossy gatefold cover. Disegno’s founder and editor-in-chief Johanna Agerman Ross says of switching the paper for issue 4, “We wanted to make a bigger statement with the paper stock for this issue”.  This change in stock was crucial to how the team at Complete Ltd apply the technique of expert colour management to every page of the magazine.  Preparation requires specialist tweaks and changes to the profile depending on it’s final intended format and required results.
