Stitch Menswear Show
This week Complete Ltd visited London’s dedicated menswear trade show, Stitch, at The Business Design Centre in Islington.
Exhibitors showing for S/S 13, included a mixture of established brands alongside new start-up fashion labels and emerging designers. Debuting their collection to the British fashion market, we talked to Argentinian t-shirt label, Ghost Of Trouble, about their collection of crisp white Peruvian Pima cotton unisex tees. Our eye was drawn to the delicate fabric juxtaposed against clean and graphic prints of icons from the past and present. Morrisey, Henry VIII and even a quote from Oscar Wilde are included in the print designs from this exciting new label. Also showing for the first time, Manchester based brand, Native Youth, showed a range of relaxed feel, yet hard-working garments. Hooded duffle coats in dual contrast fabrics and simple cotton t-shirts with colourful woven breast pocket details gave a new interest to menswear staples. Lat 56 degrees, from Glasgow, is a new collection performance luggage. Specialising problem solving for modern day cabin baggage, the range includes a patented suit carrier bag, that packs small enough to carry a gentleman’s suit and unpacks crease free due to their lab tested ‘Suit Packing System’ design.
We were also inspired by Manhattan Portage‘s latest collection of messenger bags and totes. The simple yet practical designs are the perfect accessory to fit in with a busy summer in London. With the Olympics looming, walking and cycling around London makes for an easier transport solution. A lightweight vinyl bag or backpack from this popular New York label makes an ideal tote for town. Swedish brand, WESC, is a label that is inspired by creatives from the world of skateboarding, snowboarders, actors, musicians, artists, models and even chefs. As well as designing a range of upscale casual clothing and headphones, they also produce style publication, Superlative Conspiracy, a magazine filled with creativity, words and stunning images.
